Seafood Directions is the premier ideas, innovation and networking event for the Australian seafood industry. The national forum provides an opportunity to promote the seafood industry, discuss industry issues, workshop solutions, teach best practices, share knowledge, and plan for the future of the seafood industry.
For the first time in 2022, Seafood Directions will tackle industry issues, from water to plate – bringing together industry leaders, innovators and disruptors from all sectors of the seafood industry.
Seafood Directions was established in 1999 as a Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC) initiative to provide an industry forum for the exchange of ideas, and use the outcomes from the conference to face the challenges that come our way to future proof our industry.
Seafood Industry Australia has been awarded the tender to host and manage Seafood Directions 2022, 2024 and 2026.
In 2022, the event will be held in Brisbane on 13-15 September.
2022 Fishing for Life: South and South-East Asian conference on small-scale fisheries and aquaculture

An international virtual conference exploring key outcomes for effective management of sustainable artisanal and small-scale fisheries and aquaculture in the South and South-East Asian region.
In celebrating the Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture 2022, as declared by the United Nations, Sri Lanka Forum for Small Scale Fisheries (SLFSSF), in partnership with Sri Lanka Association for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (SLAFAR) and the Ocean University of Sri Lanka (OCUSL), will be organizing an international conference covering the South and South-East Asian region under the theme ‘Fishing for Life.’
The conference aims to bring to light, the important contribution made by artisanal and small scale fisheries to food supply, nutrition, employment, poverty alleviation and wellbeing of the people in the region, while at the same time, unearthing issues of governance failures, including social injustices emerging from the process of blue economic development.
As part of our commitments to explore actional solutions for sustainable management of artisanal, small-scale fisheries and aquaculture, WorldFish will support the goals of Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture 2022 and the Sri Lanka Forum for by continuing to showcase our research and innovation in aquatic food systems through our 2030 Research and Innovation Strategy and CGIAR’s initiative in ‘Resilient Aquatic Foods for Healthy People and Planet.’

The World Recreational Fishing Conference (WRFC) is the world’s most prominent gathering of the recreational fishing community.
The conference is held every three years and aims to provide a unique learning opportunity as well as a chance to showcase Victoria’s and Australia’s fishing and tourism experiences to leading and influential recreational fishing stakeholders from across the world.
