Resources for Australian Commercial, Recreational & Indigenous Fisheries

Across Australia, fisheries management must now include participation from Indigenous, commercial and recreational stakeholders. Thus, there is an urgent need to increase the pool of adequately skilled people to participate in formal fisheries management fora.

Before this project, there was no comprehensive, easily accessible program suitable for participants to gain a basic understanding of contemporary fisheries management processes including fishery science and stock assessment processes. This project aims to build and train a network of Indigenous, commercial and recreational fisheries representatives who will make a meaningful contribution to the management of Australia’s fisheries.
